Clare Waight Keller, the new artistic director ahead of Givenchy, is the first woman to take over the role in the French brand. The successor to Ricardo Tisci (who was the brand’s stylist for 12 years), served as creative director at Chloé, where she was for 6 years, presenting the designer characteristic of the brand, always with details that showed femininity.
A graduate of the Ravensbourne College of Arts, and a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art, Waight Keller began his career at Calvin Klein in New York where he was responsible for the line of women’s dresses. Some time later, he went to Ralph Lauren, where he took care of the men’s line of the brand, and not far ahead, signed the Gucci’s pre-a-porter necklace and accessories. He then continued his career at Pringle in Scotland, where he even received Scottish Fashion Awards Designer of the Year in the Cashmere category. Only in 2011, when he moved to Paris, took over the creative direction of Chloé, where he was until then.
Presenting now her second collection for Givenchy, the stylist wanted to show something that was sexy to the extent, with a classic touch, and that would go back to the mysterious. Parts that went from the conservative Hubert to Audrey in Paris, and formerly referred us to a more serious Berlin wall divided by walls. The track with excerpts from the album Lou Reed emphasized the contrast.
“We’re countering the spirit of wealth with the fact that the skin is fake”), alluding to the fake fur coats featured in the parade, and at the same time, to the contrast of realities of his mood inspiration.

This mysterious mood did not go to the parade alone, because the party to commemorate the presentation of the collection ready to wear autumn 2018 was “to shiver”. More literally, the party brought a décor all inspired by creatures of haunted tales, and even counted on some actors who developed the paper of peculiar evil creatures.
A real immersion in metaphors that allowed us to know a little more of what is to come in the next collections of one of the most classic French fashion houses, Givenchy.
